The other day I shared that I had over 1000+ posts in my reader.   Yeah. I know. There was a time when I would begin to shake just looking at all those posts and while many times I would contemplate hitting that "mark as all read" button, I never could do it. I'm getting better though.   I no longer feel that I must read every post.   Lately I will skim the first couple and then mark the rest as read and move on.  However I always find that when it comes to Steph's posts, over at Adventure in Babywearing that I always get hooked on the first one and then continue to read and read.  This time I read all 16 posts that I had missed in the past few weeks and honestly I could probably link to all 16 on my weekly Sunday Stars post.  But, her post on her hair, being a minimialist, and having a whole lot of stuff on her mind really resonated with me.  Now before I begin, I should probably state a disclaimer saying that I am in no wa...

Today is my  4 year bloggy anniversary.  It is also my  1376th  post. WOW. That's a long time and a whole lotta words. When I first started I know hubby was thinking, "hmmm I wonder how long this will last" as I am the queen of running full steam with new hobbies and then dropping them by the wayside a few weeks later when I get bored. But lo and behold blogging has stuck and I still enjoy it today {most days} as much as I did four years ago. I can't believe how fast those four years went by.  I spent some time this past weekend reading some of my posts and looking at all the pictures.  If you have never went back to read your own blog, you must. It is amazing to see how you and your writing has grown.  I blog just for fun and the biggest purpose for my blog is to have a memory book of sorts to capture and record the moments that are sure to escape my mind.  After reading some of my posts I realize that there is much I have already forgotte...

When I started this blog way back in 2006 my first real post was all about Dylan starting Kindergarten . This year he is in 4th grade. How did that happen? And now it is Zoe's turn to start Kindergarten. Today is the kids first day back to school. This morning we all put on our new back-to-school outfits, the kiddos strapped on the new backpacks, Zoe and I grabbed our lunches {Dyl prefers the cafeteria}, and we are off for the first day of the 2010-2011 school year. Dave is doing his daddy duty of going to daycare with Zoe to watch her get on the bus and then following it to school so he can escort her to class and snap pictures for me.  {That's the downfall of being a teacher, you always miss those school events as you are busy making them happen for your students!}  Out of the three of us, Zoe is most definitely the most excited.  According to her, she has been waiting years to go to school and can't believe she can finally go.  She is most definitely...

{ Photo Credit } The other day when Dylan asked when we had to go back to school, I told him the day after Labor day.  The next question was, of course, what's Labor Day? Do you know I couldn't answer him? Some teacher I am.  Now I wasn't totally clueless.  I mean using semantics I knew that it had to do with working.  Plus since it is a holiday then that would mean a day of relaxing and celebrating.  So putting it together, I told him that Labor Day is a day for relaxing and celebrating because you work so hard all the rest of the year.  But, then I started feeling some mommy guilt.  Here I am celebrating a holiday that I don't even really know why I'm celebrating.  So Google and Wikipedia to the rescue.
