Busy Mom Blunder

Image
This morning as we were in the car on the way to church, I went to apply some lotion on my very, dry legs. As I was rubbing it in on one leg, I thought "Wow, there is a lot of hair on my leg for just shaving on Friday. Something must be wrong with my shaver. I'll have to throw it out when we get home." Then after massaging in the lotion and still thinking about how weird it was that I was so hairy, I went to begin applying lotion on my other leg. That other leg was silky and smooth without a hair in sight. So it would seem that I am not going crazy because I did just shave my legs on Friday...I just kind of forgot to shave both of my legs!! By the way, we did continue on to church (after much contemplation on my part) as soon as hubby could safely pull back into trafic after running off the road because he was laughing so hard. So happy that I could provide him with some comic relief! I would love to hear some of your busy mom blunders. Leave me a comment telling me t...

I did it...I did it!!

Tuesday night was my last master's class...ever!!! I did still have one paper for a different class due, but I submitted that one yesterday making the dream of my master's...A REALITY. Well at least that is what I am hoping. All my grades are posted except for this one class that was a directed study, which basically means I read a book, write some summaries, do a final project, and call it a day. I did all of the above and emailed the professor to make sure that I have met all the requirements, but haven't heard back from him. As long as he gives the okay then I am out of there with another degree in my hand!! It has been a long haul, but I think definitely worth it or at least I will let you know when I see that first paycheck with the new step. Graduation is May 8 th , but I decided not to walk and instead party with some friends. Words cannot even express how very happy I am that this part of my life is over. Have I mentioned that Dave and I are now contemplating movi...

Okay...I'm finally going to do it!

Some of my regular readers (the two of you) may have noticed that I have not posted any of my weekly weigh in results since right before my vacation. As you may remember my goal was to be in the 150's before I left for Florida and by golly I made it by 1lb the day before we left. Now two weeks after being back I wonder...why on earth would I want to push myself to get into another 10lb range when I knew darn well I wouldn't be in it when I got back?? I dunno either! Anyways when I returned home I found I had gained 4 pounds...yeah so I enjoyed my vacation...got a problem with that?! So I told myself that I had two weeks to get back in gear and that meant back in the 150's. I was a little disappointed in myself, hence the lack of posting on the subject, but I jumped back to counting my points and used my treadmill faithfully losing 1.5 pounds the first week and hallelujah lost 2.5 pounds this week. So in one day shy of two weeks, since we have been home, I am very happy t...

Dream Job

Image
Over at Crazy Hip Blog Mama's , this week's carnival is all about your dream job . Of course motherhood rocks, but c'mon you know there are times that you sit and dream of that one job that would make life perfect. For me, my dream job has always been wanting to be a professional party planner and own my own party planning company. I remember when I was little somebody telling me that the president had his very own party planner and thinking...that is the job I want!! Unfortunately I didn't make it to the White House, but I did plan my own wedding, a few parties for friends and family, and I can throw a wicked little kid birthday party!! Give me a theme and I am off...invites, decorations, food, crafts, games...it thrills me to be able to organize and see it all come together. Most importantly I enjoy seeing the end result as people gather around and the good times roll. I am so envious of Jennifer Lopez as the Wedding Planner...I would give anything to be her (in tha...

What makeup??!!

Image
Steph over at Adventures in Babywearing is having a little contest and in honor of People Magazine's issue of Stars Without Makeup she is looking for brave souls to bare it all...okay at least the face. That means no makeup, including lipstick, mascara, pimple concealer... nuthin . Now I think I may actually be in the minority considering that it is very rare when I DO wear any makeup. When I was about 14 I remember arguing and arguing with my dad to let me wear makeup and eventually I did wear him down...to at least a little powder concealer and lip gloss . Anyways as I got older I found myself wearing less and less and when my terrific husband said he preferred me without makeup well, then I thought what the heck...he already married me so who do I need to impress. I do still on occasion, that would be very special occasions, wear makeup especially since my mom gave me an awesome bare essentials makeup kit. It is fun to put on the makeup and get dressed up to go out for a nigh...

Whiz Kid

Dylan brought home his progress report on how well he is doing with the 57 high frequency words that he must know before going to 1st grade. Well, by golly, my little brainiac aced the quiz by knowing how to read all 57! I cannot believe how quickly he has caught onto reading and am so glad that he enjoys reading too. He makes me so proud! He makes daddy proud too because he brought home his sentences yesterday and the one he wrote said "Fisherman cot a blue marlin." I think Dave had a tear in his eye because Dylan chose to write one of his first complete sentences on the topic of fishing! Like Daddy, Like Dylan I guess!!!

You know you watch too much American Idol...

...when after singing a song with the radio your son says, "Mom, that was a little pitchy"! Note: After I stopped laughing hysterically I asked Dylan why he said that. We had gone to McDonalds earlier for lunch and he had gotten an AI microphone in his happy meal. You push a button on the microphone to sing and when you are done and let go of the button a little box pops up with different AI sayings, such as "You're going to Hollywood", "That was good, Dawg," and of course "That was a little pitchy." So he was just repeating what he had read on his microphone!

God is BEAUTIFUL!

There is nothing better than waking up to sun brightly shining in your bedroom windows and hearing birds sing their praises outside an open window!! We have been blessed these past couple of days with absolutely gorgeous weather, high 60's to low 70's and lots of sunshine. It is supposed to continue at least for the next couple of days so it is going to be a goooood week.

I LOVE Vacations!

I can't believe it is Thursday already and we only have one day of vacation left (I never count weekends since I get them off every week)! We have been busy, busy, busy, although I feel that I have spent more time inside a car than out and about. We arrived last Friday after driving through the night. The plan was to spend the night somewhere, but after a couple cups of coffee and Diet Cokes I was going strong so I figured why not push while the kiddos were asleep. The way I saw it was that it would be more enjoyable for all involved the less time they had to spend awake in the car. So after leaving around 6pm on Thursday we arrived at my in-laws in Florida around 10:30am, and for all you worry warts, yes we did stop and at least sleep about 2 hours in a rest stop!! So we enjoyed Friday here with the grandparents and then headed over to Disney bright and early on Saturday morning. So basically, after a little break we were back in the car for another 1 1/2 hour ride. We stayed in ...

We're Off

Finally...we are heading on our way to Florida. These past couple of days have been crazier than usual and that is saying a lot. So I think we are set to go, got the car packed, house/dog sitter arrived, kids screaming and asking if we are there yet ( ok so not quite, but I am predicting about 5 min). I will try to post when I can lock into somebody's insecure wireless network ;-)! Happy Easter and Spring Break!!!!

By Golly...I Am Going to Graduate

I handed in my big Master's project last Tuesday and being the oh so patient person that I am waited a whole week (well almost) before emailing my professor to ask him when I would know whether or not I passed. The project is graded only pass/fail and I don't think I ever have completed failing work, but still I wanted that affirmation that it did pass. He emailed me back and said that there was one grammar mistake on my abstract that he would like me to correct and then he would submit my PASSING grade. Woohoo !! So one graduation requirement down... The next thing I had to do was complete an online writing assignment, where I am given a prompt and have to address it within 45 minutes. I am a pretty accurate and quick typer so that didn't intimidate me, but usually I have to be in a "mood" to write and then I go back and rethink, revise, reword, and basically rewrite whole papers because...well...just because I am anal like that! So I was a little worried about...

Goal...Achieved!!!

Last week I set the goal of being in the 150's before I left for Florida (tomorrow) and this morning ( drum roll please) I just had to peek...159.5!!! I can't believe that I am telling everybody how much I weigh, but I am so stinking happy that I'm losing weight and met this goal that I could scream it from the rooftop. So now I am happily off to Flo rida where I am going to ease up on the points to enjoy myself. Hubby (being the great guy that he is) said that I should take the week off because we are always on the go on our vacations so all the extra exercise will balance everything out. So I promise no pigging out, but that fried clam sandwich that I have been craving will be my lunch on Friday FOR SURE!

FOG DELAYS...

one more reason why I love being a teacher!!!!
