I'm Mel and this is my blog!
The title of Mel's Box of Chocolates is derived from the famous quote of Forrest Gump, "Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you are gonna get." This blog is a place where I share the samples of my life from my box of chocolates. I talk about the yummy pieces that I want to savor (the ones with the butter cream center) and those absolutely awful pieces that make me cringe and want to spit it out (the ones with the indistinguishable center).
Just a bit about who I am...
I'm a wife, mom, teacher, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. I'm sure I could think of a few more descriptions such as chef, house cleaner, nurse, cab driver, cheerleader, but I think you get it. I am happily married to my best friend, Dave, and am proud to be called "mommy" by two of the smartest, cutest, funniest, best kids ever (yes I realize I'm prejudiced).
I am an elementary teacher and have taught 3rd and 5th grade over the last 9 years. I am one of those lucky people who can truly say that they love their job. Every day is a new adventure and I never know what my students have in store for me. But no matter what, nothing beats watching a child learn and grow throughout the year and watching them have an Ah-ha moment where the light bulb finally shines brightly. Children are our future and I'm blessed to be able to teach them!
In case you want to know more...
I love to read, shop, and blog...not necessarily in that order. Spending time with my friends and family is what makes me tick. Chocolate and Starbucks are how I survive! I believe that smiling is contagious, laughing keeps you young, and if you don't have a sense of humor I don't have time. I know that God died for me, has a plan for me, and loves me unconditionally. I aim to please Him! The small things are what matter and it is important to stop and smell the roses, take a walk on the beach, and follow the rainbow. There is a pot of gold waiting at the end!!
This blog is for me! It's a place I come to record my thoughts, memories, adventures...life. I'd love to share it with you. So grab your latte, help yourself to the chocolates, and stay awhile. Did I mention how much I love to entertain?!
Welcome to Mel's Box of Chocolates!
