I absolutely agree with everything in your post, except for this sentiment. Perhaps it's because I'm very familiar with *atypical* motherhood situations, i.e., being a teenage mom, being a welfare mom, being a single mom with no one to depend on financially, but I took offense with this part of your post. There are absolutely women who simply cannot afford to stay at home, and to deny their existence is downright disrespectful.

Other than that, I enjoyed your post. I hope you have an awesome 09!

Don't even get me started on the Mommy Wars...I live on a street where there are a select few SAHM's who look down on those of us who work, and it's really, really annoying. I totally respect their decision and would like that respect in return.

Personally, I think the "Mommy Wars" was something invented by Oprah. No one I know really cares who does what - its all about what is best for each individual family and situation.

Great post! I agree with making it work as a SAHM. We don't have all the fancy things but I am staying home and when the kids head off to school I will get a job and be a working mom. We are all the best moms to our kids no matter if we stay at home or work..
