Did you know this week is Teacher Appreciation Week?
Now I'm not a huge fan of the special days, weeks, holidays, etc that are in place to recognize special people because isn't every day the perfect day to acknowledge the awesomeness of somebody special? But then again, they are a good reminder for us to actually take a moment to say thank you.
Showing teachers appreciation doesn't mean having to go out and buy something extravagant. Remember it is often the small things that go such a long way.
A handwritten note of thanks is always a perfect gift. I have every single letter, card, note that parents have taken the time to give me. On those days when I wonder why I do what I do because I feel so down and defeated, I pull them out to remember exactly why I chose my profession. I especially enjoy when parents give specific examples of how I have impacted them or their child. Affirmation is a wonderful thing.
It is always nice when students get in on the appreciating as well. As parents, we are responsible for teaching our children how to appreciate those who help them. As a teacher, it is nice to see families involved in their children's education, showing their children how they value school and the professionals who work so hard to educate them.
So this week I encourage you to please take a quick moment to thank a teacher for being such an integral part of your child's life. It is sure to brighten their day!
