Taking in a little Sun and Earth
Monday the kids and I made a trek up to Philly for a fun field trip that the teacher in me just couldn't pass up. Well truly, the blogger in me couldn't pass up because it was with my usual group of Philly mommy blogger friends and I always try to make it to events where I get to hang out with them.
This trip was for a tour at Sun and Earth, a local plant that produces green cleaning products. I have been using Sun and Earth products for a few weeks and was eager to learn what happened at the plant. After driving the 2 1/2 hours and only making two wrong turns we arrived. Once inside we were divided into groups for the tour to begin. We started in the conference room where we learned about all the natural ingredients that are used in Sun and Earth products.

After our tour, Sun and Earth pulled out all the stops with a fantastic picnic with hot dogs, chicken nuggets, and pizza. What more could a kid ask for lunch? Oh and let's not even talk about the ooey, gooey cookies they had for dessert. They also provided entertainment. There was a kids comedian who decided to use Dylan as that person...you know the one who is the butt of all the jokes. Who gets pointed at the whole time. Yeah, that person. Dylan was a pretty good sport about it though and although he was pretty shy at first, he came out of his shell by the end. There was also carnival games, face painting, and caricature drawings. The caricature artist was also an employee at Sun and Earth, talented people they have working there. He did nothing but draw for about 3 hours straight with my kids being his last models. His work was amazing.

Visiting Sun and Earth was a great way to spend the day!
It also was convenient to pick up the detergent tablets that I had just ran out of that morning. If you are looking to try some green cleaning products make sure to check out Sun and Earth products. They have many products including, all purpose cleaner, dish washing liquid, glass cleaner, liquid hand soap, laundry detergent and fabric softeners. Oh and my favorite, the instant stain remover stick, which I carry in my purse and works fantastic.
We all have to clean, right? Why not do it green?
Thanks again to everybody at Sun and Earth, Sarah for sharing all the information about the company, and Beth for organizing the picnic. It was a fun day to spend with my kids and other mommy bloggers too!

No surprise that oranges are top on their list of natural ingredients as the plant was filled with the citrusy scent. Actually, the citrus smell is one of my favorite features because then my house smells fresh and not like a disinfected hospital.
The kids also got to decorate their bottles of all-purpose cleaner that they would be filling later in the tour. Next stop was to see the big ol' vat of laundry detergent that they were making that day. It was huge! Definitely could tackle a few loads of laundry.

Then it was off to the assembly line. Dylan and Zoe put their empty bottles on the conveyor belt and watched them slide down to be filled and have the lid put on.
Once the bottles were cleaned up, the kids got their cleaners back and we were off to the shipping department. The shipping department was nice enough to hold the bottles of cleaner while we went on to the next activity...planting beans. There was a little area set up outside where the kids got to decorate their own little pot and plant seeds to take home and watch them grow.

8 Thoughts from you all...:
Sounds like such a wonderful trip and a great product as well. I dont think i have ever seen this product but it could be that i just never looked close enough. We dont really have any organic stores in my area so it takes a little searching to find "green" products!
looks like fun! Sorry we missed it!
Thanks for the terrific blog!
It was a pleasure having you come to Sun & Earth. Glad to hear the kids had fun!

What a GREAT day for you and the kids! It looked and sounded awesome!
What a nice recap! I still need to write mine.
Great post Mel!
just so you know Acme and stores like that carry some of the products but your better off ordering from them directly. Stuff is cheaper and you get all sorts of BOGO or freebies!
