A Night at the Circus

Friday night we ended our week by heading to the circus. Not just any circus though...THE Barnum and Bailey Zing, Zang, Zoom circus. You know the one that calls itself, "the greatest show on earth." After seeing the show I agree that it definitely has the right to that slogan.

We were invited by MomCentral and Feld Entertainment to a meet and greet before the show where we were welcomed with a bag full of goodies. The kids loved their hats and clown noses...so did mommy and daddy.

We got to enjoy pizza, chips, popcorn, and big ol' cookies while hanging out with Alex the ringmaster, some clowns, and Zoe's favorite, the human cannonball lady.

After dinner we headed outside to visit the animals before the show. We got to see the zebras and ponies, tigers taking a bath, and every body's favorite...the elephants.

Then it was time for the pre-show! We headed inside and down to the circus floor to watch some warm up shows. We watched the clowns getting their makeup on,

dressed up in some outfits in wardrobe and practiced being clowns,

and watched Asia the elephant paint a picture.

I really like how Barnum and Bailey open up the floor for a little pre-show for all ticket holders as it allowed the kids to move around and check everything up close. The clowns were out along with jugglers, acrobats, trapeze artists, the magician/ringmaster, and more. It helped to get some of the excitement out too so they could contain themselves in their seats during the show.

The circus itself was magnificent. I liked how they took the circus we all know and love and mixed it up with a magic show that amazed the young and old. I'm still trying to figure out how they did some of those tricks. Unfortunately my camera did not cooperate during the show due to all the lights and my lack of knowing how to use the flash correctly to get a half way decent picture. I did manage to get these pictures though and really isn't elephants one of the biggest reasons to go see the circus...think Dumbo!

If you live in the Philly area you absolutely must make it to see Zing, Zang, Zoom before they leave town. You can use MomCentral's discount code "MOM" and get 4 tickets for only $44. You are sure to have a blast and at $11 per person it is definitely budget friendly. Just remember to eat dinner first or just happen to have a few fruit snacks, granola bars, or little snacks in your purse. While the tickets are affordable, the souvenirs and food, not so much. I'm not even going to tell you how much I paid for a snow cone and box of popcorn. Let's just say I'll be walking to school this week since the moolah for my tank of gas this week was eaten at the circus.

A fantastic night was had by all and two days later we are all still talking about our night at the circus!! The kids have already been asking when we can go back again.

9 Thoughts from you all...:

Great pics! The circus is one of my favorite events of the year. Sadly we missed it this year for only the 3rd time in my whole life. This is also the first year my kids have not went. We however were in Florida when the circus was here.

I always have appreciated how B&B let there viewers be a part of the show. They invite you into a world that you have always wanted to explore and they let you be that runaway you always dreamed about even if it is only from afar.

I am glad you guys had a great time and i so know what you mean about the snow cones. We bought those same cups last year and i thought i was gonna die!

This post is making my decision even harder, especially with that discount code. We want to take Princess to either the circus or the Philadelphia zoo this Friday and I can't make up my mind!!

Have you been to both? If so which would you recommend.

I'll be making my circus post later this week. (Just got permission from Ringling Bros and B&B to use some of their press photos in the review!) It was SO much fun. We loved the preshow!

I'm hoping next year that we get to stay for the whole show. TJ was ready to leave in the middle of the double trapeze act.
