Weight Watchers Lose For Good Campaign
On September 7, Weight Watchers launched Lose for Good, a campaign created to empower people to get healthier while also giving back to others in need. The program addresses two global epidemics – obesity and chronic hunger and malnutrition.
For every pound lost with Weight Watchers during a six-week period, beginning September 7 and ending October 18, Weight Watchers will donate the cost of one pound of food -- up to one million dollars. The funds will go to two hunger-fighting organizations: Share Our Strength, which works to make sure no child in America grows up hungry, and Action Against Hunger, which provides immediate and long-term solutions for hunger to people around the world.
As you know I am a big Weight Watchers fan because it works. I know it sounds kind of cliche, but honestly it isn't a diet, but rather a way of life. Being on the program has taught me so much about my body and how it reacts to food. I have learned to stop and think before eating, considering how much food my body needs and knowing how it reacts to different foods. I find myself constantly adding points in my head and thinking about what I'm about to put in my mouth rather than just stuffing my face with whatever is in front of me.
I've been back on the program for about a month now after setting a new goal for myself: 20 pounds before the holidays! Now I have an even bigger incentive for getting this weight off...I take that food that I don't need and give it to somebody who does!!
What about you? Is now your time to get healthy? Do you want to make a difference too?
Weight Watchers has graciously allowed me to give TWO Weight Watchers online subscriptions away. So if money was an issue, its not an excuse anymore! Join me so we can get healthy together and make a difference in other's lives too!!
All you have to do to win is leave me a comment telling me about your weight loss goal. Keep it realistic...no wanting to lose 50 pounds in a month. Weight Watcher recommends a healthy loss rate at 1-2 pounds a week so keep that in mind. I always think that the slower it comes off the longer it stays off!! Or maybe your goal isn't a number, but a size...or maybe it is being able to run, ride a bike, or play soccer with the kids...whatever your goal I want to hear it!!
The winner will be drawn next Sunday, September 21. I would love to have your help in spreading the word so if you blog about this giveaway and leave me the link in the comments you will earn another chance at winning! Good luck!!

62 Thoughts from you all...:
Hey there! See - this is the value of Twitter....found this giveaway!
I need to lose the last 20 pounds from having 3 kids. Since I still have an eTools subscription, I pretty much have everything I need to do WW online...so if I won I would probably give the membership away on my site (if allowed).
Oh well - you don't have to enter me in the drawing (since I kind of already have it), but I will link to your giveaway on my site!
Goals? Well, I actually have several. First off, I just need to get healthier so that I'm at a lower risk for all the nasty things that run through the family tree, plus I know I'd have more fun with my hubby and kids if I were at a healthier weight. I need to lose quite a bit, and would like to be there in a year.
Goals huh? I guess my biggest goal is to feel better. I am a cancer survivor and just can't seem to feel better. I want to feel more energetic. I want to get to the top of my 14 step staircase and not feel winded. I want to hop out of bed in the morning. I know losing weight and eating better can help me accomplish this.
I have set a goal for myself to lose 25 pounds by Christmas or January 1. I am hypothyroid and 43; those two things make it very hard for me to lose weight. I work out doing strength regularly and I get my cardio on off days. I can't always manage my relationship with food. Maybe WW would help.
I've almost, just about decided to explore weight loss surgery if I can't get the 25 pounds off by year's end. I want to feel better and be a positive role model for my son. I want to look healthy, too.
thanks for the info. if I don't win, i might just pinch more pennies a join
Hi there!
I would love to win this subscription. I joined Weight Watchers in May and have since lost 25lbs, but I have pretty much been doing the program without any support or meetings since July because when I decided that I was leaving my job to stay home fulltime, we had to cut out some of our expenses and WW was one of them. I have another 30lbs to go to be to goal, and would love the support along the way!
My goal isn't to be super thin, just healthy and not need meds to control my health. My doctor wanted to put me on some and I decided to give myself the opportunity to lose weight first!
I desperately need a subscription..but I'm broke! LOL. So this would be awesome.
My weight loss goal is a very scary three digit number. But more than that -- I want to come to terms with WHY I have used food as a way to help me cope with stress my entire life. That is the key, I think. Because for me, it has been a problem my WHOLE life. I need to find that balance.
I would like to lost 15 pounds by Christmas--in time for an anniversary trip to Hawaii! I'm so excited to be going--this is a first for us, and would love to feel comfortable on the beach. Thanks for entering me in the contest.
This membership would give me the motivation to lose the 50 pounds I have been trying to lose on my own for...well, for a long time. I want to feel healthier and be a better role model for my children. Health wise, losing weight would be great for my thyroid. Losing the weight would also be a huge confidence boost and enable me to lose more in a healthy, supportive way.
I so desperately need this. I've been kicking myself all week because I'm not helping my team enough and I'm struggling. Argh!
I'd like to lose about 10 more pounds. I did some WW for my wedding in July. I lost 9 that way. It was super. Now I want to stay on the track and keep losing. Seems that I have gained 2 back. Want the scale to go down, not up. More importantly, I want to feel good and healthy and think that I look good. :) WW gave me an outlet to talk about food an body issues. I have struggled with self image forever, losing some more weight may help me to feel better inside and out.
Me! After the bedrest before having baby #5 I am in rough shape.
I need to lose 30 pounds by Jan 1st
I cn't seem to do it on my own!
This would be so COOL! I'd love to lose 20lbs from the fourth child by the new year. My next big goal after that is to run a marathon. -- Jen
My real goal is to lose 150 pounds. For now, though, I'm working in 10% increments (something I learned in WW). My current goal is to lose 33 pounds by Christmas.
My goal is to lose 67 pounds over time that I have put on since college, however my initial goal is simply to lose the first 37 lbs.
My long term goal is to loose 28 pounds which will take me back to my wedding weight. My short term goal is to loose 10 pounds by a wedding I am attending in 7 weeks. I could use all the help I can get!
Great giveaway!!!
My goal is to lose 25 pounds by Christmas, I think it is very doable I just put my mind to it.
Also I put it up on my blog,
http://luvmy4.blogspot.com/2008/09/weight-watchers.html
I would like to loose 25-30 pounds. I think that I can do it by then end of the year.
I want to get back the pre-baby body - hopefully by next swimsuit season. Thats only about 10 pounds, but there is some serious 'firming' to be done ;-)
Great giveaway! I originally lost 30 pounds going to WW meetings! I need to lose 15 pounds by December. I'm having surgery then and losing the last of my baby weight would help in my recovery!
I was just checking out WW online and debating between going to meetings or trying out online, then read your giveaway!
Thanks!
I have 3 goals to do by the end of Oct. Goal 1 is to get back to the gym 3 days week. Goal 2 is to go back to 100% water (those MT Dews really sneak on the lbs) Goal 3 is to start a food journal AGAIN!
Thanks for such a great giveaway!
I am in the process of trying to lose weight but I can't seem to keep motivated or to stay away from those sweets! I really need to lose about 60lbs, while I wish it could be within a month, I set my goal for Summer 2010 to have lost 60lbs.
I already signed up for WW Online last week, so you don't need to enter me.
I am also hoping to lose 20 pounds by the holidays. I will still have a ways to go after that, but that would be a fantastic start and would make a big difference in clothing size and how I feel.
Aside from just wanting to be healthier - not eating all the sweets that I feel addicted to! - I would like to lose about 30 lbs total but I figure that if I lose 15 by New Years I'd be pretty happy. Hubby is diabetic and I know that my eating habits have influenced his eating and that hasn't been good. We have recently started walking after work - 45 min and I have been feeling better. I just need motivation to keep it up!
Plus money is tight so a free subscription would be super!
My ultimate goal was to lose approx. 135 lbs. I have lost over 75 lbs so far. My new lifestyle started back in Aug. 2005 so I take it one day at a time. Thanks for the chance to enter.

I did WW for a while and found it really did work if you followed the plan. My problem was that eventually I got tired of counting points and paying for my WW Online subscription right about the same time.
I set a goal last week to lose 15 lbs by Thanksgiving. I wouldn't mind the help of WW and would be happy to give it a try again! But even if I don't win, I'm planning to be 15 lbs lighter by Turkey Day.
I was planning on starting weight watchers at the beginning of October, I have books etc to do it on my own but I would love to have the ACTUAL program!
I have quite a bit of weight to lose but my first goal is 25 lbs before 2009!

I'd like to start small and lose 10 pounds. My daughter had her second cranial surgery this time last year, and I know exactly what I weighed at that time. 10 pounds less than I do right now. Today. There's a bigger goal, but I'd start small with 10 lbs. Thanks!
Hello - I can say that I have been on WW before and it does in fact work. I lost close to 50 lbs before having baby #2. It is time to get back on the program and my goal would be to lose 25-30 lbs before the end of the year. I would love to win!

I have always been overweight, but I had a plateau that I never went over...until I got pregnant with my daughter and had a Csection. Now I am about 60 pounds over that and I really need to lose it. I don't have a time line or any special event that I want to lose by, but gradually taking the weight off and keeping it off is important to me.

I am a lifetime WW member. However, after having 2 kids I gained weight back. So now I've been doing it at home (so to avoid paying for meetings). My goal at this point is to get down to my WW goal weight so that I can get back to meetings. The online program would be such a help. I have about 6-7 pounds to go... wish me luck!
My goal is to lose 70 pounds by this time next year. Yesterday was my first WW meeting and today my first day counting points, so I have a ways to go! I was searching about what people thought about the online subscription when I found your site.
My overall weight loss goal is to loose 150 pounds...so far I'm down 53 pounds. I would like to loose another 20 pounds by Christmas!

I don't have a numerical goal in mind right now but I would like to make exercise a goal. I want to make exersise a part of my normal (pretty much) daily life. No more excuses!
I have 11 more pounds to go to hit goal. This would be the motivation I need. I love those magazines!
My goal is to start being true to myself, to stop after years of obssession to start living a HEALTHY life. I was a very overweight child and teen, i lost 45 lbs when i was 16 with a mixture of extreme dieting and exercising. I went off to college and became body obssessed, i exercised like it was job. I was fit but not exactly healthy. I the weight off till i had my daughter (now 2) I am 22 years old and i need to stop hiding and start living again. It is such a struggle evryday for me, i still see myself as that little fat girl. I am 10 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. For me it's not about the weight anymore it's about teaching my daughter what a healthy body should look like, not somthing you should hide from the world.
A year and a half ago, I lost 23 pounds on WW in about 4 and a half months and I also learned so much! I stopped attending meetings to save money and I have kept a lot of the healthy habits that I learned, but the old ones are slowly creeeping in...My goal is to replace my old habits (such as not thinking before eating or emotional eating) with good eating habits, and exercise more. As long as I feel good and am healthy, my size and weight are no matter ;)
My goal is to lose 100 pounds so that when I decide to have a second child my pregnancy will be healthier than last time. During my first pregnancy I developed severe preeclampsia resulting in the premature birth of my daughter. I don't want to experience that again. I have been a weight watchers member in the past and it has always worked for me until I quit to save money and fall back into my old habits.
This is great. Maybe one day my blog will be popular enough to have WW's say I can give stuff away. Woohoo...good for you! I mentioned your contest on my blog too. We gotta spread the word.
My goal is to be healthy enough to eventually have children. I am 70ish pounds over weight now. I would like to lose the first 15-25 by Christmas. My mom and brother have just started WW's with me. It is great. I am in Germany with my husband who is in the Army. blogging has helped me to stay in touch with my family. Now my brother has started blogging too. We each share information on foods and recipes. I want to suceed for myself and for my family. I have suceeded with my things in my life, but losing weight has not been one of them. This time I have the support of my family. It will happen this time.
I lost my Dad Aug 25th to diabetes, and was recently diagnosed myself. Right now I am on medication orally, but desperately need to lose weight. My son and daughter are on WW and are helping me along. Two weeks ago I started and I am down 9.4 lbs. Starting at 295 and now at 285.6. It is difficult to do it without being on the "real" program, but spending the money to eat healthy is more important right now. My goal is 175 and to be able to live a long healthy life for my kids. Thanks for the opportunity and good luck to all. Debbie
oh gosh! i dont think i even hav a chance with about a billion people singing up! but.... i need to lose about 10 pounds after gaining about 15-20 pounds from bingeing, and since WW is the only plan that deals with that emotional issue, i REALLY need support with this because, im B.R.O.K.E!! but i really would love to lose about 1 pound a week, and i guess my clothing goal would be to just fit into my old clothes!!
http://lexisuzanne.blogspot.com/2008/09/im-sure-nobody-reads-my-blog-anymore.html i also linked this contest onto my site!
I'm taking baby steps right now to try and loose weight. Just started attending Jazzercise classes and I would love this subscirptions to start helping/guiding me to make better food choices.
I set a goal to lose 12 pounds in 12 weeks on a challenge that I am taking part in. So by Christmas I would like to be 15 pounds healthier. That would also be close to my 1st 10% goal. WW has worked in the past for me, I just let myelf not follow the program.
I am already a WW monthly pass member. But let me jsut say that the generous option you are offering here to your readers is a amzing gift. I surely hope you all know how rewarding WW is and know that you can do it!!!
I would just like to be able to lose the weight that I have put on since being married, you know, the pounds you put on since you are now "safe". And then you have kids (only have 1 but still it adds some one there)and you just keep adding it on! I just want to be sexy again for my hubby!
I would like to lose 30 pounds by Christmas. Starting at the beginning of next year, I will be very busy working on a 18 month service project that requires a lot from me physically. I would like to improve my health so that I will be more equipped for the physical acts that are required of me.
My ultimate weight loss goal is to lose about 60 pounds. I've already lost 10 over the past month or so - just trying to make better decisions on what I eat. Would like to be healthier so I can do more things with my daughter and not be embarrassed about how I look.
Thanks for an awesome giveaway!
20 pounds by Feb 22 (my bday) - but maybe I should really challenge myself and go for Christmas like you.
I want to join WW for the 3rd time and really lose weight - not just think about it.
I have blogged about it. I'm crossing my fingers to win this one:)
I have a few weight loss goals - One is to learn what to eat and how much to eat. I think I know, but I must be wrong because I am not loosing the weight I want. I have heard Weight Watchers does that for you. Second, is to feel good - more energy! Thankyou Carmen Goddard c64g@yahoo.com
I've followed weight watchers off and on for about 10 years (give or take). For the most part, I've kept a majority of the weight off. Over the past three years though I've struggled within about 10 lbs of my goal weight. Even though I feel like I'm in great shape, something about the "number" always leaves me wanting something smaller. So, I continue to count points and hope to gradually, as I do more strength training, wean off those extra pounds.
I love the WW magazine though and would love to win a subscription!
I need help losing 45-50 pounds. I don't know how it happened, but it is very depressing.
I found this site through Ronis, I had commented but I think it disappeared so sorry if this posts twice. My goal is to become healthier and become a lifetime member. This is my second go around with weight watchers and I know it works. I would like to lose 50 more lbs.
I just found a link to your site and saw that you're giving away WW online membership - which I NEED!!!
I literally just delivered our son, Caleb on Sunday, Sept 14th. He was 5 weeks early and a preemie (5lbs 12 oz)- you wouldn't know this if you looked at me - I gained around 30 lbs with this pregnancy and I still have another 50 lbs to lose from my 1st pregnancy (I gained 80lbs with our daughter!). I need something that I can do from home because I can't cart a 2 year old and newborn to meetings. My bestfriend has done amazing on WW and I really love how simple the system is!
Really hope I win - Oh.. my birthday is next Tuesday too- not like that will help my chances, but it's worth a try!!
...trying again. :)
I would love to lose 10lbs. Seems like such a small amount but for whatever reason it's not coming off. ugh.
10 lbs would be good, 20 would be better. What a great incentive to loose!
After ten years of smoking more than a pack a day, I quit smoking for good last month.
I am so proud on myself - it was the hardest thing I have ever done, but so worth it. I feel so much healthier, I have more energy, and I can breath!
Now, its time to lose the five pounds I gained from quitting smoking, plus the 30 I am carrying around from my pregnancy two years ago.
My goal is to lose 35 pounds by my 23rd birthday in April.
I am on a mission to become a healthy person so I can be a good role model for my son. I want him to see his mama being active and respecting her body.
I'm actually a WW member at the moment. I lost about 60 lbs the first time I joined WW in 2000. Then two babies...then about 2.5 years with a nutso protein-loving personal trainer (he had me on the equivalent of 5 chicken breasts A DAY!). I lost nearly 60 lbs. with him, too, but then I quit and gained it all back (plus another 10 lbs). I've spent the last 2 years beating myself up for it.
So my goal is to inch downward healthfully. I don't care how much I lose, as long as the scale moves in the right direction most of the time. I finally get now that this is gonna be a lifelong journey.
I want to do this for my two girls, and so I dodge all the heart disease and diabetes that runs through my mom's side of the family tree. Taking her to the kidney doc this week was a good incentive. :)
