The End of a Vera

Joining the millions of other ladies, as gathered by the handbags I see all around me, I became a Vera Bradley fan a few years ago. I swear teachers should get a discount because if you walk into any teacher conventions it looks like Vera just vomited. The bags are everywhere. I liked the funky prints, bright colors, multiple styles, and of course because everybody had them I had to get them too. Therefore I got this...

and these...

plus this in three different patterns...

Oh and I almost forgot this. It was the best Valentine's present ever!

I even got this for a teacher gift this year. Yes, I am a very good teacher. What can I say? Please note the matching beach towel. It is the only one I have taken to the beach all summer!! Thanks Denise again for the best teacher gift I have every received and probably ever will!!

Of course I have a few retired things also, but I couldn't find the pix and was to lazy to take my own so just know there are more than what is pictured. Oh and my aunt just bought me a CD case, which is so hip in my car. I swear I'm done talking about what I have now! Oh except...just kidding!

Yeah. So I was addicted. What can I say? Please notice though that I said "was" as in past tense. I got the new catalog with the just released patterns and I am happy to report that none of them do much for me. So I think I am going to move on. I will always cherish the memories that we shared together and of course still enjoy using what I have (I can't just quit cold turkey, you know).

But now I'm looking for some new handbags and since I know what wonderful readers I have out there, what should I sink my teeth into next?

  1. Wow! I just checked out Vera's site, too, and I wasn't impressed either. What's up with the owl print? Not my cup of tea. I guess I should be glad...it saves me $$$ !!! I'm such an addict (when the pattern is right). Guess I'll still be using my Kensington for the fall. My poor Botanica got the ax...Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

  2. I feel ya. I kind of graduated a while ago. I sold several on ebay and kept the two that I liked the most. But I haven't carried them in quite a while.

I love Fossil bags, but they are pricey. I just got one for 50% off though. WOOT! I love and adore Orla Kiely bags. I love that they are different from a lot of stuff that's out there.

Coach make a nice bag, but honestly, I'm getting tired of seeing everybody carrying one.

I have my eye on this one at the moment.

I wasn't willing to pay $168 for it, but it's on sale now, and I may just spring for it. I don't have a plain brown bag, believe it or not.

  5. Sorry - can't give you advice on that - I have the same briefcase that I got as 'swag' from a show I worked on in 2001. I use it as my laptop and 'work papers' bag, and also as my purse... ha ha ha!!

If I don't want to carry it one day, I take my wallet out and put it in the back pocket of my pants, like a man!!! ha ha ha

Hope you guys are enjoying your family time:)

  8. Ditto...did nothing for me either, saw samples at a Hallmark store. Had the same reaction...relief that I won't be tempted! Why don't you look at Dooney & Bourke? Christmas is coming! I sometimes like them better than Coach...or am I showing my age here? Love, Aunt Steph

  12. I have no brand loyalty in buying purses. My obsession is digging through bags and purses at Etsy.com for the cutest, chicest ones. Plus, then you can help a work at home artist (that's what I tell myself at least).

  13. I just learned of Vera in May. I found a little store in town that was selling some off at 50% off so I bought a small bookbag and checkbook cover. I even got a free coin wallet. I don't like a lot of the Vera's but I do like some of them........haven't been into getting all of them though. LOL What's your favorite color? I like the Java Blue the best.

  15. My mom just got me a Vera for my birthday. I like it, although I"m not a huge fan in general. I do like the nifty adjustable straps--all purses should have that.
